Uniquely Antique Restaurant

Many might miss the calling of Antique Restaurant due to its relatively secluded location, as well as the lack of a noticeable sign board, but the sounds coming from the satisfied crowd would be enough to make you stop, look and eat. Antique Restaurant is located on the quieter side of Seminyak and it offers a wide variety of Fusion cuisine. The name does not in any way reflect the concept of the restaurant. It doesn"t serve food from the medieval and it doesn"t possess antique furniture. The word ò€˜antique" shouldn"t be taken for its literal meaning, but rather a symbol of uniqueness. The interior is a sophisticated mix of contemporary and traditional art, all of which are created by the owner of the restaurant himself, Joshua Purnomo. Decorations made out of junk metal resembling trees and animals can be found from ground to ceiling. Despite using materials that others deem as junk, the end result is tasteful and appealing to the eye. The chill-out music in the background completes the entire urban feel to this unique restaurant. The menu boasts a whole string of unique dishes, all of which are the owner"s own recipe. Not only does he handle the interior, but he"s also the chef and owner. He blends the many different types of cuisine to create his own original recipes. The Crab Pumpkin Chowder is the Chef"s recommended starter and it blends European richness with the Asian spiciness. Its texture is creamy, with the help of cheese and it is complimented with crispy prawn wanton and crab dumplings. Dip the prawn wanton and the crab dumplings into the soup and you"ll get a blend of creamy French soup and sweet Chinese wantons and dumplings. The Chilli Prawns would be a safe option for the main course and is prepared with an Asian tang. The serving might not be generous but the steamed rice and fresh vegetables make up for it. The name might be a little misleading, but its not too spicy and would be tolerable for even those who tear after a single drop of chilli sauce. The perfect end to dinner comes in the form of a Chocolate Passion Fruit Tart. The chocolate might be too sweet for some but is countered by the slightly sour taste of passion fruit making it just right. This heavenly dessert is served with vanilla ice cream which basically goes well with any dessert. It is hard to find an establishment where everyone knows your name but at Antique Restaurant, customers are friends. The Chef and the staff establish a relationship with diners, making them feel comfortable. They are at your service when needed, and careful not to be intrusive as well. It is both admirable and refreshing to find a restaurant that takes so much pride in creating a strong customer relationship. SD Food Advisor"s take on Antique Restaurant Bar If you"re looking to dine at a slightly more cosmopolitan setting, Antique Restaurant would be the place, despite the irony. It has a lot to offer from good food, unique dÓ©cor, soothing music, excellent service and a generally good feel to the place. Prices are reasonable based on the size of the portions served and if that"s not enough, the Chocolate Passion Fruit Tart is a gift from God.
